DR. MICHAEL MCNAMARA
Dr. Michael McNamara is a Medical Doctor practicing a unique specialty of preventive health checkups using the most sophisticated modalities of diagnostic imaging and blood analysis. Dr. McNamara was a pioneer in the specialty of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), having founded the FIRST hospital-based MRI department in Europe, in 1986. His professional healthcare and business interests cover a range of specialist areas; from groundbreaking diagnostic medical MRI and CT imaging, to medical imaging contrast media pharmaceutical development and clinical testing, to preventive medical health clinics, to IT solutions for mining of raw medical data for improvement of healthcare management, to the development and distribution of unique disease preventing health supplements and nutrients.
Dr. McNamara is a Japanese and American Citizen his mother being a native of Osaka. His family moved from Japan to the US when he was a child. He obtained his medical education in the United States. His academic background includes undergraduate and medical school studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he received his MD degree. He subsequently carried out an internship in Medicine and General Surgery at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in San Diego, California, followed by specialty residency training in diagnostic radiology at the prestigious University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He also completed fellowships at UCSF in cardiovascular disease imaging and pharmaceutical MRI development, and in development of pharmaceutical MRI contrast media for early cancer diagnosis.
In 1986, Dr. McNamara founded Europe’s first Department of MRI at the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco, following his recruitment for that position by the Government of Prince Rainier III of Monaco, as Department Chairman, in 1986. During his tenure at the Princess Grace Hospital, he developed the world’s first preventive Total Body Scanning program, which served as a precursor to founding Monaco LifeCheck Center (MLCC). In 2004 he expanded into a facility dedicated to preventive checkup scanning on a full-time basis, whereupon he founded MLCC in the Principality of Monaco, followed by McNamara LifeCheck facilities in Moscow, Russia and Modena, Italy. MLCC focuses on early detection of cardiovascular disease, colorectal cancer, all other common cancers, autoimmune diseases, and degenerative abnormalities. He was a pioneer in Europe for the routine application of preventive noninvasive scanning techniques: virtual colonoscopy, CT coronary angiography. In 2001 Prince Rainier III bestowed the prestigious Monaco Citizenship to Dr. McNamara, in recognition of his significant achievements and contributions to the Principality of Monaco.
Dr. McNamara is currently developing a line of exclusive oral and topical nutraceuticals and supplements for preventive medicine based on his long experience in the field of preventive health. Dr. McNamara has lectured throughout the world for the past 30 years, including a prestigious speech at the renowned ”Festival of Thinkers” in Dubai, in 2011, moderated by Riz Khan of CNN and Al Jazeera. He has published over 45 Scientific Papers and books covering MRI scanning, CT scanning, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and contrast media development and testing. He has published extensively in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Circulation, Radiology, American Journal of Radiology, and others, as well as multiple book chapters in leading textbooks. He also published a textbook, “MRI of the Body” by Springer Verlag.
Dr. McNamara has significant experience in drug development for medical imaging, having participated in Phase II and Phase III studies for; Schering AG, Bracco Diagnostics, Guerbet, and Bristol-Meyers Squibb. The diseases included in the studies include: multiple sclerosis, brain mass lesions, liver tumors, and body cancers.
He has served on the Medical Advisory Boards of; General Electric Medical Systems, Bristol-Meyers Squibb, Nycomed Laboratories, Bracco Diagnostics, Akloma Biosciences, The Angiogenesis Foundation, and uBiome, Inc. Dr. McNamara co-founded and served on the Board of Directors of MDdatacor, one of the first and most innovative and well-respected information technology companies in the health care industry. MDdatacor is involved in data mining of live digitalized patient medical records for industry, such as for insurers and clinical research in pharmaceutical development. Dr. McNamara played a key role in company funding with private and institutional investors for all funding rounds. The company was successfully developed and sold to the Noridian Mutual Insurance Company in 2011.
His initial entrepreneurial medical activity resulted in the development of the world’s first non-ionic contrast agent for MRI scanning with Nycomed Salutar, Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA in the 1980’s. Dr. McNamara served on the Board of Directors of Akloma Biosciences in Stockholm, Sweden. Akloma is focused on the novel use of externally applied rasters for the alteration of biological water, initially for the non-invasive treatment of tinnitus. His work was instrumental in the successful implementation of global online product sales and the recent company acquisition of Akloma by a publicly traded health company.
He currently serves on the Scientific Advisory Boards of leading cutting edge and highly influential organizations in the area of medical disease prevention and health optimization, including The Angiogenesis Foundation, founded by leading Harvard University Medical School cancer research doctors, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and uBiome, the world leader in data mining and analyzing the human bacterial microbiome for health improvement, based in San Francisco, California.
At present, Dr. McNamara is co-developing a health supplement startup to feature unique and 100% natural, evidence-based health promoting and disease preventing oral supplements, targeting the prevention of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and degenerative diseases of the brain and body organs. His leading product is the fruit of years of research and development in collaboration with the world’s leading producers of all natural olive based polyphenol-containing aqueous olive extracts, Castello Monte Vibiano Vecchio, in Umbria Italy. Four more all-natural potent preventive health products are currently under development in Asia, the USA, Europe, and Africa.
